People’s Planning Academy seeks applicants for $2,500 Thriving Neighborhood Challenge award
Application to receiving funding for neighborhood projects opens today

INDIANAPOLIS – Calling all community creators, imaginative implementers, and block builders: do you have an idea that will make your neighborhood a healthier, happier, and more resilient place to live? The People’s Planning Academy invites you to submit your idea for a chance to win $2,500 to make it happen!

Potential projects for the Thriving Neighborhood Challenge should be resident-led initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in your neighborhood.

Applications are open for the Thriving Neighborhood Challenge beginning today. Selected teams will receive two training sessions in late summer, during which resiliency specialists will lead tailored discussions relating to their projects. Following these trainings, selected teams will participate in an intensive two-day workshop, working with City staff and experts to further develop project ideas and build tangible skills to benefit their neighborhood. Four teams will advance to the final round, where they will present their idea to the community at a city-wide event. The winning team will be awarded $2,500 to implement their idea.

Volunteer to help your neighborhood THRIVE

“The Thriving Neighborhood Challenge is all about empowering Indianapolis residents to work together and take ownership of the positive change they would like to see in their neighborhoods, ultimately building towards a healthier, more inclusive, more resilient, and more competitive city – realizing goals defined by the Plan 2020 Bicentennial Agenda,” said Brad Beaubien, Administrator with the Department of Metropolitan Development.

Thriving Neighborhood Challenge applications must be submitted before June 22nd at 11:59pm. For more information and to apply, visit thriveindianapolis.com.

The Thriving Neighborhood Challenge is brought to you by the People’s Planning Academy, a project of the Department of Metropolitan Development, and the Office of Sustainability, and made possible by a grant from the National League of Cities.
